Sunday marked the first ever "pride parade" on Nova Scotia's South Shore, taking place in the town of Bridgewater. As Callum Smith reports, organizer's say its and important milestone, especially given what they say is a rise in hatred and discrimination within the past year.

Over the weekend, hundreds of people on Facebook commented on a post about a school on the South Shore, that shows a table with art supplies and a sign that says "Create Your Own Drag Queen." Some made hateful comments about the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Shelley McCorriston is a director on the board for Lunenburg County Pride.

Residents of Nova Scotia's South Shore are gearing up for the Bridgewater area's first Pride Parade, which is being held on July 9.

Lunenburg County Pride is organizing the parade, with individuals, organizations and businesses able to register to walk in the event.
