Grants Received

Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia - Community Grant

We are thrilled to start a pilot project that minimizes barriers to participation. This was made possible with the support from the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. We have received $9,596 for our pilot "Queer Connections". We are currently working to finalize more specifics (related to dates/times/locations), and will post the events on our Facebook.

About the pilot program:

Queer Connections will be a four event series including 3-hours of social connection and community engagement opportunities for 2SLGBTQIA+ folk within the South Shore. This event is to address isolation and loneliness within the queer community, which addresses findings in current research related to minority stress and mental wellness in rural areas. Hopefully, by providing these events, we can support community members in building peer support networks and increasing social ties to feel safe and valued.

2024

We would like to thank all the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia Donors who made this possible. You are truly making a difference in the lives of Nova Scotians. We’re so proud to be #ChangingTheWayPeopleThink about their #MentalHealth

Queer Connections Events

  • South Shore PRIDE Week 2024

    • Located within Kick-Off Street Party on the Wharf of Pijinuiskaq Park

    • Music Performer:

      • Izra Fitch and Band - “The artist leaves you no chance…” ~ IGGY Magazine

      • Izra Fitch introduces her alt-pop revolution. The front woman pulls from her reality and delusions to produce the high-emotion music and intense visuals she is known for. Influenced heavily by film, the queer pop artist takes personal moments and places focused, daring pop soundtracks to them. The sincere connection with her audience is then met with a drama-filled live show to bring her nostalgias further to life.

* Event Partners: Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, Town of Bridgewater. This event is part of a series of events funded by the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. We are happy to be #changingthewaypeoplething about #mentalhealth
